The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious.

Base Camp

Longsleddale Outdoor Pursuit Centre, Longsleddale Valley, Lake District.

The magic valley, as folk call it! Situated at the south eastern edge of the Lake District national park, Longsleddale has hosted our April to October events for 5 years. We absolutely love the land here which always gives a warm welcome. The camp is bordered by a native woodland with a tributary river flowing directly off the fells and down to the nearby river Sprint where a swimming hole is within walking distance. The camp is surrounded by rugged mountains (fells as they are called) which have hosted many Vision Questors. The nearby ancient round barrow links us with the Ancestors and the life force of this place can be felt as it changes through the seasons.

Regular visitors (especially early morning) are deer, badger, hare, stoat, otter (by the Sprint), many birds including those that nest in the Council tree, heron, jackdaw, buzzard and a sighting of an eagle one year.

The main community barn, Council tree (centre right) in the camping field and toilet block can be seen here in our Summer base camp. The bunk barn is hidden behind the Council tree.
